I’d just like to let you all know what’s happened since we began.
Other than the town sites we opened with, The Café,
Joe over at Joe's Pool Room has opened his Bar Book to everyone also. Try some of Joe's favorite Beverages mixtures or post some of your own. Did you know there was a Chatroom over at Joes too? Pop open a cold one and have a seat and bring along some friends. Have a game of Pool too there's a couple of games to choose from on the front page. Don't forget to check out our members homes! That's why we started the RoseWillow Real Estate Office. Here's a peek at some of the homes in RoseWillow!
Now of course we couldn't forget a photo gallery of our members! Of course everyone attended RoseWillow High and we just happen to have their high school photo's to prove it! There's also a staff page we've put up though we couldn't find all the teachers photo's. Perhaps you have some old photo's you'd like to share with us or you might have ideas for a few fun captions to put with the ones up already. Feel free to mail your ideas into Grace. We'd sure like to fill in the empty spaces.
Just before Christmas we opened

So there you have it. We've come an awful long way in only one year and there's still more to come! We had mentioned in the last edition of The Oracle that we
had some exciting announcements but unfortunately one of the scripts we
were going to purchase was faulty and we ended up not getting it We're still on the hunt though. BUT.. there is something else coming.
Hopefully it will all be in place this month.
One of our founding members will finally be making her debut so to speak. Keep an eye out for Madame M.. coming soon!

It is said that if the groundhog emerges from its burrow on February 2nd and fails to see its shadow because it is cloudy, winter will soon end. On the other hand, if it is sunny and the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for 6 more weeks.
We all know that a groundhog predicting winter weather has been a pack of lies of course, but it's fun, and we need fun if we are to survive our Canadian February. Where I live, some days this winter have been colder than the north and south pole and I am considered to live in southern Canada! But what a hardy lot we are - they have only closed our schools for one day because of the cold and that day got down to minus 49 degrees Celsius.
"If Candlemas Day is bright and clear/ There'll be two winters in the year."
How groundhogs or woodchucks got a reputation for predicting weather patterns is a mystery, because they are not the least bit interested in their shadows or the number of winter weeks remaining. The only reason they come out of hibernation is for food and sex. Now that’s the life!
German settlers in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, are said to have started the tradition of watching if a groundhog sees its shadow in 1887. Thus the long standing fame of Punxsutawney Phil.
In Canada it was 1956 before Wiarton Willie (Wiarton, Ontario) became a household name for his early February predictions.
When Wiarton first decided to have it’s Groundhog Day they unfortunately picked a groundhog that was 22 years old and the poor old thing expired a couple of days before February 2nd. At this late date they couldn’t find another one so took a stuffed one, placed him feet up in a small groundhog coffin, put pennies on his eyes and used him for the ceremony. When questioned by the press on why they went to all this trouble the mayor explained, "people needed the closure". But even with that shaky start, the festival is still going strong and growing every year.
So here’s hoping and praying that Punxsutawney Phil and Wiarton Willie don’t see their shadows. God knows we deserve an early spring. Oh and by the way ..................

Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 and while it has a very long history dating back hundreds of years, the scale of the occasion we have today is largely thanks (or no thanks) to marketers.
Some facts about Valentines day:

Valentines Day is big business and as such has the potential to have substantial impact on the environment. For example, the one billion cards laid end to end would stretch around the world 5 times! Think of the trees.
Valentines day gifts with the planet in mind
Here’s a few ways to go greener on Valentines day.
- Consider sending an e-card instead using one of the many quality services around. We just happen to have an e-greeting site here at Rosewillow don’t ya know.
- Organic chocolate
- Choose organic and/or locally grown flowers or give a house plant or even a potted tree that can be planted in the spring.
- Make a donation to an environmental organization on behalf of the person.
- If you wish to give jewelry, consider pre-owned or purchasing from reputable jewelers –
-Buy the person a gift certificate for holistic therapies e.g. massage, naturopath, health spa
- Arrange dinner at a local restaurant specializing in organic or locally grown food. Eating locally cuts down on food miles. Better yet make a delightful meal at home!
- Book a retreat in a wildlife reserve, park or natural area. Your business will help support the running of such establishments.
Here's a good one for the guys – Try making a valentine for your special someone. Even if it doesn’t turn out perfect you’ll get extra kudos for the though.

Want to try something a bit fun and different for your Valentines Celebration?
How about making a little tray of Heart jello shots?
There’s a few different ways to make them that are fun and easy. First off you’ll have to decide which way you would rather do them up. If you have heart shaped jello molds all the better but if not try and find a heart shaped cookie cutter and just make a pan and then cut them out once they’re set. Easy peasy!
Jello Shots With Vodka Recipe
.Pick the Jell-O flavor you like, change the hue by adding tiny drops of food .
Things You Will Need
-3 ounce of Jell-O in any flavor of your choice
Jello Shot Recipe Directions:
1. Select the jello flavor you want to use.
Important: Do not add more alcohol than recommended above. Alcohol has a different (lower) freezing point than water. If you add too much alcohol, the jello will not gel. With some combinations, you my need to use a little less alcohol. In general, liquor with a higher alcohol content, gels at a lower temperature. In this case, a little less alcohol is used.
Spice things up a bit with a Red Hot Heart!
2 1/2 cups of water
- Put gelatin in a heat-resistant bowl. Bring water to a boil, then pour over the gelatin, stirring until dissolved.
I am in a friendship which I enjoy but my friend is a compulsive liar which bothers me terribly.
She is always telling lies when we are out together in public. I have also caught her telling me

Quite honestly I find public humiliation the best way to stop them in their tracks. Makes them think twice before opening their piehole.

My boyfriend of 10 years and I split last autumn. He had cheated on me and lied about it.
We had no contact for many months. Recently he has stopped in to visit to "see how I was doing."
He is still with the other woman but does not speak well of her. I know that I should not
let him in but I do because I am still not over him. I am still attracted to him.
We only talk when he visits, no sex. He stares at me continuously when he is here and always kisses me when he leaves.
Why is he visiting me now?

Nothing says love like a good perogie. No really Honestly.. and you can make them special for your valentine too!! I’m going to give you the BIG recipe for perogies and you can cut them down but I tell you once you try these you’ll be glad you got a bunch in the freezer! Now you’ll need at least an afternoon if you’re doing these alone but it’s really more fun when you get a friend involved. What you’ll need.
Red food coloring -Partially freeze your bacon and then grind or chop it fine. I put mine through the food processor. Cut the onions into tiny pieces -Throw the bacon and onions in a fry pan together and cook till onions are transparent and bacon is cooked but not crispy. -Drain off excess fat While that all is cooking - -Peel your potatoes cube and boil till tender and strain. While potatoes are still nice and hot add both cheeses to them and cooked bacon and onion mash the whole lot together. A few lumps are okay you don’t want them to creamy. Its’ best to cool the potato mixture down or even leave it in the fridge over night it’s a bit easier to work with. Dough
Add to the 12 cups of flour and mix then kneed till you have nice pliable dough. Add more of the extra flour if the dough is to sticky. Let your dough rest, covered, for at least 10 minutes. Pull off large handfuls of dough dust your table with flour and roll the dough out flat about 1/8th of an inch thick. You now have a big ball of pink dough! You can use a cookie cutter (about 2 ½ inches round) or tin can (soup size) and start cutting out rounds of dough. Scoop one heaping teaspoon of potato mix into the middle of the dough round. Then fold it in half and pinch the edges together.. Now. You have a Pink perogie.. But we’re not done yet Oh no.. On the smooth edge you’ve not pinched push the middle down a bit you can play with it a bit and make it into a little heart.. There you go Now you have a little pink heart perogie! Put a bit pot of water on to boil and dump about ½ cup of oil into it. When the water is at rapid boil toss in a dozen or so, perogies at a time. Let them boil until they rise to the top then put them into a strainer and then onto an oiled tray or cookie sheet. If you can it’s a really good idea as you fill up a tray to stick it in the freezer and let the perogies freeze before you bag them. This way they won’t stick together in the bag. To reheat them you can either reboil them or deep fry or pan fry them in butter till they are … golden pink.. These are Fantastic treats for Valentines Day. If the thought of a red perogie bothers you not to worry you can just make heart shaped ones and not add the food coloring.. Note; this works great with red food coloring but.. green and blue food coloring added might put you off eating these things for a very long time.. I’m speaking from experience here *L*..
In essence......intimacy and love. You know....that "in love" thing.
Here we are....where to begin?
Well, we all know what "in love" is, right? So, lets go from there and see what it is we really desire.
When we are lonely....alone, or generally feeling we need love, what is it we are really looking for? Think about this answer seriously while I ponder it myself.
I have pondered this many times but never from the angle that I did the other day.
Do I want "love"? Yes. That was hard to say, but it is true. I really do. BUT, why do I want it? What kind do I want?
Looking from the outside in at other people, I have to analyze things and then compare them to how I feel. Then I hypothesize the resulting calculations to determine a suitable conclusion.
HA!! And people say "love" isn't logical....
OK, so here we go... Are you ready?

OK....you asked for it.
Well, I was thinking that the whole love thing was a huge mystery. Then something happened in a previous conversation and it made me realize that there are two types (actually 3 since the two can combine) of intimate love needs.
The first love need is the need to love. We have basic nurturing attributes and we satisfy these by caring for others. The wanting and desire to care for another is often manifested in a partner. We want to care for them...it is our core NEED to care for them. We wake up in the morning and we thing of them and their needs. We want to please them. We NEED that satisfaction.
When we are alone, we yearn for someone to please. We are selfless. Or actually selfish in our need to be selfless. And when the moments in the bedroom present themselves, this can be amazing to our partner. We Adore the other. We NEED to adore someone. It is our CORE to be this giving of ourselves......without it, we are not complete.
THEN there is the other.
We NEED to be loved. Adored. Cared for. Thought of. Yearned after. Etc.
We will do whatever we need to do to get someone to love us. We will even subconsciously be a giving lover to gain the love we desire. We will cook, clean, and even rub the feet of someone if they will only love us, adore us and WANT us. We cry because nobody loves us. When we feel someone might love us, we finally feel the need or want to get closer. It makes us easy prey. Victims to those who know our needs.
Of course both can combine, but that is rare. and when we come across out equal in the double love, we can either meld in loving bliss, or battle to see who crushes the other. One leads to success, the other to a dastardly end.
I digress.
When we realize our needs, we can further work on our resolve. We really, in order to be successful at love, need to be a both lover, with a both lover. BUT there has to be moderation. Too strong of a bond and you feel crushed, too weak and you feel ignored. We NEED to find our equal....or in other words......out SOUL MATE (rolling my eyes).
Let's do the math.
Lets say true love is a total of 20.
We will give values of "need" type love of either type based on a 10 point scale.
So, we have Mary.....and Fred
Mary is a 6 on the need to be loved, and Fred is a 7 on the need to be loved. Mary is therefore a 4 on the ability to adore, and Fred a 3.
So, they hook up.....and all of a sudden we have a total of 13 in the NEED to be loved, and only a 7 on the ability to Adore. Will that work? For a while but a point difference of 6 total is not something that will lead to success.
In the short term, Fred might fake some adoration to act like he is at 5, or even 4 on the need scale. Or Mary might do the same thing and they will be faking a 20. It can only work for a while though and eventually both will NEED more love and ultimately look for it somewhere else.
My math doesn't work right but you get the picture.
Some who might be an 8 on the need scale.....will actually play an 8 on the giving scale. Of course once they get to that point, they are only fooling themselves. They can't even get to a 6 realistically but they don't want to admit they are a needy 8. Sad.....they will keep looking until they realize they need to find balance.
Myself....I don't know the numbers. I think I would be a7 on the need, and therefore only a 3 on the giving. But, I know I can change and will in time. I also am smart enough to know that until I find that balance of 5 and 5, I am not going to be happy.
I had it once, I will have it again....I know the balance exists.
Whatever you do, don't fool yourself into thinking you are a giver, when in reality you are a NEEDER (I had to Bushism that one). Be honest with yourself.
To love and to be loved in balance.
To adore and be adored in balance.
Either way, Like a Dom needs a sub, a Ying needs a Yang......a needer needs a giver...and the other way round.
See? I told you it was all logical......
Happy Valentines month folks! Sure seems to have been a busy start to the year here on my end. I hope everyone is well and keepin warm.. Just think.. only.. 6 months till summer... well where I'm livin at least *L* Okay.. few things to report.. As Mayor has said the software we were hoping to get for ya'll didn't pan out. It was terribly buggie and they would not give us a free trial so we nixed it. BUT I've been told there is someone special coming to town this month hopefully. (If she doesn't fall off her broom)..I can feel myself getting cursed already *S*. Anyhoo she's quite the character and I know you'll enjoy her. Lessee what else? Oh you'll notice the front page got a face lift. Yes I have finally sorta kinda caught on to CSS so I'll be making a few changes here and there.. If you run into any trouble with any pages please let me know right away and I'll try and correct it. I've been trying to figure out this code since we started but the light bulb just weren't screwed in tight enough. Thankfully I gave it a wee twist and things seem to be workin pretty good thus far. Oh and if anyone is looking for the Quick Links page.. um.. well.. Um.. ya see I.. pressed the wrong button and managed to delete the whole damn thing so I'll be putting it back up soon.. So if you happen to see a page disappear from time to time it's just me fiddling with the controls. I really have to learn to save my files more often.. Hey to our new members this month! Groundhog Day was inspired by an old Scottish saying:
-3 lbs of bacon
-5 med onions (more or less depending on whether you like onions)
-12 cups of flour
-6 cups warm water
-1/4 cup oil
-1 heaping tsp salt
-2 egg yolks
-1 extra cup of flour just incase
-6 lbs potatoes
-1 ½ cups of Cheese Whiz or Cheese Spread
-1 cup cheddar or old cheddar cheese
6 cups really warm water. If it’s to cold or cool it will make a tuffer dough so make sure it’s nice and warm.
Add oil and salt and egg yolks stir up quickly. Remember you’re water is quite warm you don’t want it cooking your egg yolks so stir them up fast.. Then.. Add some red food coloring. I wouldn’t suggest dumping in the whole bottle but you want your water red.
